PROMOCION DE LA SALUD MENTAL DE LOS BEBES Y SUS MADRES

El principal objetivo de la Sociedad Marcé es promover, facilitar y difundir la investigación sobre todos los aspectos de la salud mental de las mujeres, sus bebés y sus parejas en torno al embarazo, nacimiento y puerperio. Esto incluye una amplia variedad de actividades de investigación que van desde las ciencias básicas hasta la investigación sobre los servicios de salud.

La Sociedad es multidisciplinar y promueve la participación de todas las áreas relacionadas incluyendo a psiquiatras, psicólogos, pediatras, obstetras, matronas, enfermeras pediátricas, fisioterapeutas, terapeutas ocupacionales, enfermeras de salud mental, etc.

Además la Sociedad fomenta la participación de asociaciones de usuarias y/o grupos de autoayuda.

La sociedad organiza una reunión internacional cada dos años cuyo(a) anfitrión(a) es el/la presidente de la sociedad. Estas reuniones son muy participativas y con un alto nivel científico que atrae a investigadores, clínicos y usuarios de todo el mundo.

The principal aim of the society is to promote, facilitate and communicate about research into all aspects of the mental health of women, their infants and partners around the time of childbirth. This involves a broad range of research activities ranging from basic science through to health services research.

The Society is multidisciplinary and encourages involvement from all disciplines including: psychiatrists, psychologists, paediatricians, obstetricians, midwives, early childhood nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, community psychiatric nurses, community nurses and health visitors.

The society also encourages the involvement of consumer and carer (self-help) groups.

The society holds an international meeting every two years (biennal) hosted by the President of the society. These are lively meetings with a high quality scientific content that brings together researchers, clinicians and consumers from around the world.

Sociedad Internacional para la comprensión, prevención y tratamiento de la enfermedad mental relacionada con el nacimiento.

La Sociedad Marcé se formó en un Congreso internacional en 1980. El objetivo de aquel congreso fue reunir las diferentes áreas de investigación sobe los trastornos mentales del puerperio. Se reconoció la necesidad de crear un foro donde poder discutir sobre la enfermedad mental puerperal en el sentido más amplio y se formó la sociedad. Se llamó Sociedad Marcé en honor a Louis Victor Marcé, un psiquiatra francés que escribió el primer tratado dedicado completamente a la enfermedad mental puerperal publicado en 1858.

Inicialmente la sociedad se constituyó en el Reino Unido pero ha ido creciendo y ahora es realmente internacional con miembros de todo el mundo. Se han creado grupos regionales (australianoasiático, francófono, alemán) que también se reúnen periódicamente para discutir aspectos a nivel regional e intercambiar ideas sobre todos los aspectos de la salud mental de las mujeres, los bebes y las parejas.

La asamblea general bianual se hace coincidiendo con el congreso internacional bianual. En ese momento hay elecciones para la junta de la sociedad.

The Marcé society was formed at an International Conference in 1980. The purpose of that conference was to bring together different strands of research in puerperal mental disorders. It was recognised that there needed to be a forum to discuss puerperal mental illness in its broadest sense and a society was formed. The society was named after Louis Victor Marcé, a French psychiatrist who wrote the first treatise entirely devoted to puerperal mental illness, published in 1858.

The society was originally established in the UK, but it has grown and is now a truly international society with members from all parts of the world. Regional groups have now been formed (Australasian, Francophone, German) that also hold regular meeting to discuss more regional issues as well as to exchange ideas about all aspects of the mental health of women, their infants and partners.

A Biennial General Meeting is held in conjunction with the Biennial International meeting. At this time elections to the committee are held.
